ABOUT THE BOOK:

Sandy Durand has it going on. She is the envy of her peers especially following her engagement to her company's most eligible bachelor, her smooth talking, upwardly mobile, former boss. Plus, the attractive management consultant is poised for her promotion to the rank of partner at her large firm.

But just when everything seems to be coming perfectly together for Sandy , a dramatic twist of circumstances including an unexpected torrid weekend encounter with the persistent and charismatic Damon Cushley unleashes a rollicking series of events that will turn her life upside down. …Tom’s home was located in the Mitchellville area in Prince George’s County in Maryland, across the Beltway from Sandy’s Bethesda penthouse apartment.  It was not surprising that Tom had built his brand-new estate home in Mitchellville.  The area was home to some of the most financially privileged African-Americans in the country.  It symbolized new African-American wealth, complete with private golf courses, luxury automobiles and mansions.  Gone were the days of George Jefferson of the popular 70’s TV sitcom, the Jefferson’s and his Moving on Up jingle.  Residents of this community for all intent and purpose had arrived and their material splurges proved it.  That, despite the rumors that it was all financed by excessive debt.  But who cared? The residents were more focused on living the life once only dreamt about.  They felt they were no longer on the fringes of the famed American wealth they were now living it.  Like most of his neighbors Tom was intent on maintaining the image.
            He had not hesitated in sharing his keys with Sandy.  The house was soon enough going to be their home anyway. She might as well have full access to it.
            Jumping into her 430 CLK Mercedes convertible, her thirty sixth-birthday gift to herself, Sandy sped over to Tom’s and thanks to light traffic was soon at the house.  The brick colonial, stood at the corner of the street, large and formidable, supported by four huge columns at the front, a mini patio above, leading to the master bedroom and a circular redbrick driveway.  She dashed in quickly focused on grabbing the document, to be right back on her way.  But the moment Sandy stepped into the house, a cold feeling of unwelcome greeted her.
